About Bracknell Nepalese Society
To respond to the evolving needs of Bracknell’s growing Nepalese population, it became important to establish a dedicated community-based organisation. In recognition of this need, the Bracknell Nepalese Society (BNS) was founded in 2006. As the organisation developed and its activities expanded, a decision was taken in 2014 to formalise its structure and governance by registering as a charitable organisation. Later that year, in November, BNS was officially registered with the Charity Commission, marking an important milestone in its growth and credibility.
Since its establishment, BNS has played a significant role in supporting members of the Nepalese community as they adapt to life in the United Kingdom. The organisation has been instrumental in fostering a sense of belonging, helping individuals and families integrate more smoothly into British society while maintaining strong connections to their cultural heritage. Through a wide range of programmes and events, BNS not only preserves and promotes Nepalese traditions, language, and customs, but also encourages active participation in British cultural and community life. This dual focus helps build mutual understanding, respect, and cohesion within the wider community.
As a registered charity, the core objectives of BNS are centred on promoting social inclusion and improving the well-being of Nepalese residents in Bracknell and the surrounding areas. Its work is carried out for the public benefit, with particular emphasis on addressing the challenges faced by individuals who may be socially or economically disadvantaged.
In particular, BNS aims to achieve its objectives by:
- Promoting social inclusion by supporting individuals in overcoming barriers to integration and participation in society.
- Advancing education, especially through the provision and support of English language learning, enabling community members to communicate effectively and access wider opportunities.
- Providing or assisting in the provision of facilities for recreation and leisure activities, particularly for individuals who may face limitations due to age, youth, disability, financial hardship, or social circumstances, with the aim of improving their overall quality of life.
- Offering support to relieve sickness and financial hardship, helping vulnerable members of the community during times of need.
Through these initiatives, BNS continues to strengthen community ties, enhance well-being, and contribute positively to the cultural diversity and social fabric of the local area.
